Happy October to you all! How the year flies in… Apologies for the late submission of September’s update, it has been a busy few days for us. Please see below for an update from us in relation to Community Policing across the electoral wards of Kinross-shire and a large portion of Almond and Earn, during the month of September. Some of our duties get posted about on ‘Police Scotland Tayside’ social media accounts and we also provide reports for our 8 community councils, to include in their meetings which cover incidents / crimes of note and Police activity in the specific areas. Below is some of our activities in September - COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Attending Abernethy Community Council meeting. Engagement with management staff at a new children’s home in our area.Joining the Milnathort Bike Bus.Attending at a Beaver Drop In hosted by Nature Scotland in Bridge of Earn. PC’s Samson & Duncan attended Milnathort Primary School to speak to 2 of their classes about local Policing priorities, how Police tackle these and how Police support the local community. One of our major projects over recent weeks and months had been the delivery of the ‘Pitchin In Programme’ with high schools across South Perthshire, including Kinross High School. This uses football as a vehicle to explore a range of topics with pupils aged between S2-S3. These include internet safety, hate crime, offending, antisocial behaviour and making positive choices. This programme was developed and delivered as a partnership approach between St Johnstone FC, Saints in the Community, Perth & Kinross Education Services and Police Scotland. 40 young people took part in the programme which culminated with a final session at McDiarmid Park, Perth. All participants who completed Pitchin In were issued with a certificate and match ticket for an upcoming St Johnstone FC game. CRIME Dealing with 3 neighbour disputes in Kinross and Abernethy.Identifying the person responsible for a housebreaking / vandalism at Loch Leven Community Campus and issuing them with a Recorded Police Warning. Carrying out speeding patrols in Milnathort, Kinross & Forgandenny. No offences were observed but some drivers given advice about their manner of driving. TRAINING PC Samson attended a 2-day annual refresher course on Officer Safety including first aid. OTHER Working at St Johnstone vs Hibernian football match. We are particularly keen to hear what you, our community, would like to see from us. The way we Police is shaped by feedback which helps us streamline our work.
